3D Scan of a Venetian Mask

Scanning of artistic, organic masks

A series of Venetian masks were digitised using optical 3D scanning.

Process: step by step

Process

  • Spraying of the masks with water based anti-reflex spray
  • Setup in free state with some reference points on the masks
  • Digitizing the object

Technology

  • GOM Atos III Triple scan with 320MV (measuring volume)
  • Automatic rotation table

Post-processing

  • We only needed to close very few holes. (=closed mesh)
  • Scan filtering to reduce file size.
