3D Scan of a MTB cassette

Digitalisation for Reverse Engineering

3D Scanning is often the first step for Reverse Engineering of existing parts. This can be desirable for various applications such as:

  • Creation of a spare parts libraries
  • Performing finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Reproduction and scale models

Process: step by step

We scanned the MTB Cassette using a GOM Atos Capsule scanner and our automated ATOS Scanbox 4105

Following process steps have been followed:

  • Clamping of the cassette for easy handling
  • Spraying with water based anti-reflex spray
  • Digitizing the part

After scanning the part, it was aligned and filtered to reduce the file size.
