But then the real work begins: how do we guarantee that the product is within specification? How do we ensure that every part consistently meets quality standards? It is precisely in this crucial phase that TetraVision provides support. As an external measurement lab, we handle dimensional control and guide you from first design to final product. With our approach, you reach reliable insights faster and achieve a stable production process.

Overwhelming drawing?

A technical drawing can be intimidating: hundreds of dimensions, complex GD&T and countless references. For many, this raises questions: do we have the right measurement equipment? Is our accuracy sufficient? Do we have the expertise to analyze everything correctly? At TetraVision, we are accustomed to these challenges. Thanks to years of experience and advanced optical measurement systems, we know exactly how to reliably translate even the most complex drawings into correct measurement results.

Our quality label

Measurement requires trust. That is why TetraVision operates according to ISO 17025, the international standard for testing laboratories. This certificate confirms that our processes, equipment and expertise have been independently assessed and recognized. For you, this means certainty: our measurement results are not only correct, but also reliable and traceable. You build decisions on a solid foundation, supported by the highest quality standards. This way, you can be sure that your investments in development and production are not built on shaky ground.

The traditional approach

Traditional reporting often means tables full of measurement values. Although complete, they often provide little insight. Numbers tell you what was measured, but not where the deviation is or what impact it has on functionality. It requires a lot of interpretation and leaves room for misunderstanding. This makes the translation into concrete improvement actions more difficult. At TetraVision, we believe that measurement should deliver more than numbers alone. It should immediately clarify what is going on, so you can make decisions faster and more efficiently.

Our approach

We translate data into insight. With color plots and clear visualizations, you can see at a glance where and how large the deviations are compared to the CAD model. No searching through tables, but a clear picture of what deviates and what impact it has on functionality. A deformation during production immediately catches the eye, allowing the cause to be found and resolved faster. By making complex data accessible, we ensure that technical teams and decision-makers are on the same page.

Measuring? Simple, right

“You just measure what’s on the drawing. There can only be one outcome, right? There is only one correct value. Measurement is an exact science.”

In practice, things are often less straightforward and require more nuance. In this example, you might quickly grab the caliper to measure the inner width. The value falls within tolerance, so at first glance everything seems fine. But is it? Products often exhibit form errors and must also fit functionally. Perhaps another part needs to slide in. In that case, the minimum opening over the full length is crucial. If it is not large enough, the part will not fit. On the other hand, an opening that is too large can lead to an unwanted gap. It is therefore worthwhile to also check where the largest opening is located.

This demonstrates that a single measurement rarely tells the whole story. It starts with a correct drawing, but at TetraVision we go further. We deliver complete and clear information and make deviations visually transparent. This way, you can see at a glance not only whether something falls ‘within tolerance’, but above all whether the product is truly functionally usable in your application.

Robust template

At TetraVision, we develop ‘robust’ ZEISS Inspect templates. In practice, products always deviate from their ideal CAD model. With robust templates, we ensure that geometric elements are always correctly determined, regardless of the deviations. This gives you consistent and reliable measurement results, even with complex or deformed products. Moreover, we combine automation with a careful final check by our experts. This gives you the certainty that your measurement data is both correct and repeatable.

Visualizing GD&T

A single measurement value often says little, especially for flatness, surface profiles or hole positions. That is why we visualize GD&T as much as possible. With color plots and clear annotations, you can immediately see:

✔️ Where the deviations are located

✔️ How large they are

✔️ What the impact is on functionality

This makes complex data accessible and actionable. Thanks to smart scans and color plots, this is done much more accurately today. CAD and scan are combined, making deviations visually apparent. Trimming surfaces is therefore faster, more accurate and with fewer risks. The FOT enables initial assembly, functional and visual tests. It provides insight into quality and shows where optimizations or corrections are needed before series production starts. This makes it an essential step towards a robust and market-ready end product. TetraVision supports you at every step: from FOT to final product.

Trends and series

Measurement does not stop at a single product. At TetraVision, we also carry out extensive series analyses, from dozens to hundreds of parts. This allows us to map variation in the production process. Consistent scans and statistical analyses (such as Cp and Cpk) provide insight into trends and process stability. This tells you whether your process delivers reliable products not only today, but also tomorrow and next month. Metrology thus becomes more than product control: it becomes process management. This takes the quality of your production to a higher level.

Launching a new product often starts with a milestone: the deal is closed, the first parts are scheduled and expectations are high.
